Documents for CIS Countries — What You Need to Know

The Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) remains a key destination for our clients. Kazakhstan, Armenia, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan are popular countries for relocation, work, study, and business. Thousands of Russian-speaking citizens move to these countries every year, and all of them need documents from Russia properly prepared for use abroad.

The unique aspect of working with CIS countries lies in the different legalization regimes. Some countries have bilateral legal assistance agreements with Russia, which eliminates the need for apostille. Others require full processing through the Hague Convention. Understanding these nuances allows us to choose the optimal processing path for each client.

Since 2015, we have been helping clients with documents for all CIS countries. Our team knows the requirements of each state, works with translators in all regional languages, and delivers documents to any city in Central Asia and the Caucasus.

What Documents Are Needed for CIS Countries

Depending on the purpose — work, study, residence permit, marriage, business — the list of documents varies. Below are the main categories of documents we process for CIS countries.

ZAGS Certificates

Birth, marriage, divorce, and death certificates are the most requested documents for CIS countries. Required for citizenship applications, marriage registration, and school enrollment for children. We obtain duplicate certificates from ZAGS offices throughout Russia based on a notarized power of attorney.

Police Clearance Certificates

A police clearance certificate is a mandatory document for employment, obtaining residence permits, and citizenship in CIS countries. We obtain the certificate from the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs and, if necessary, arrange an apostille.

Diplomas and Educational Certificates

Educational documents are required for employment, admission to educational institutions, and qualification verification. For most CIS countries, a notarized translation is sufficient; for some, a nostrification procedure is required.

Medical Certificates

Medical reports, doctor’s certificates, and test results are required for work permits, residence permit applications, and university admission. Translated into the language of the destination country.

Real Estate and Business Documents

Property extracts from the Unified State Register, incorporation documents, and certificates of ownership — for conducting business, purchasing real estate, and opening bank accounts in CIS countries.

Document Processing for CIS Countries — Step by Step

We handle the entire process — from obtaining the document in Russia to delivery to the destination country. Each step is controlled by our specialists.

1. Consultation — Contact us via WhatsApp or Telegram. Tell us which CIS country you need documents for and for what purpose. We will determine if apostille is needed, translation requirements, and provide exact cost and timeline.

2. Document Retrieval — If you don’t have the required documents, we will obtain them from Russian authorities — ZAGS, Ministry of Internal Affairs, court, university — based on a notarized power of attorney. The power of attorney can be issued at a Russian consulate or notary in your country.

3. Legalization (if required) — For countries requiring apostille (Moldova, Turkmenistan, Georgia), we will obtain it from the appropriate Russian authority. For EAEU countries, this step is skipped — documents are already ready for translation.

4. Translation and Certification — The document is translated into the official language of the destination country. Translation is certified by a notary in Russia or at the consulate. We work with professional translators in Kazakh, Armenian, Uzbek, Kyrgyz, Tajik, Turkmen, Georgian, and Romanian.

5. Verification and Dispatch — We send you photos of completed documents for verification. After confirmation, documents are shipped by courier with tracking and insurance.

6. Delivery to CIS Country — Documents are delivered by international courier service (DHL, FedEx, Pony Express) to any city in the destination country. Delivery time: 3 to 7 business days depending on country and city.
